Fascinating and well read As usual at the end of one of Courtenay’s books I’ve finished learning something about a culture and history I had little knowledge of previously but I’ve been so engrossed in the story during the telling that I didn’t realise it was happening at the time.

Maybe I am going to be hated when I say this but it’s almost the feeling I get when Brycr read a James Bond novel, except that I appreciate it a lot more because I don’t spend a quarter of the r I loved courtehay book. In his stories reality is often more mundane than fiction. The history in this book and all his books makes makes me keep coming back to read more and more of his work. Bryce Courtenay lives in Canberra.
